I’m pretty sure the main reason Sony didn’t abandon the Minolta shoe as soon as they bought KM’s camera division was to try to keep existing users from jumping ship. At this point, their imaging division’s strong enough that they can attract more new customers than the number of legacy customers that their bean counters estimate that they could wind up losing, I’m guessing.
