Or maybe you should. When comparing tablets, you’re using them at the same distance. Thus, PPI matters. Resolution drives PPI. In your TV example, if you were sitting, say, two feet from each screen, the 26 inch TV would look better, because it would have more pixels in the space. You would see the pixels on the 1080p TV more, because they would be stretched out over a larger area. If you were 10 feet away, obviously the 1080p TV would look superior.
