As someone who owns the HD, I can tell you that while it is not as smooth as an ipad it is also not as slow and laggy as the author makes it sound. Also like the person above mentioned, not everyone wants to spend close to a laptop for a laptop. The SD card slot and the rich screen alone makes it tablet perfect for my needs. I have tons of papers that I need to read and no other device offers this expanded storage capability. It is no slouch for media streaming either, HD videos play without a hiccup and the screen truly needs to be seen to be appreciated. The Nook HD+ is lighter than the Ipad, something that is quite noticeable when used as a reading device.
