Depends on what you are doing with the tablet.
I have an iPad mini in addition to my Nexus 7 because I use an iPhone, and having iCloud sync on the iPad mini is as valuable as the apps.
If you use Google services/Android phone, then a Nexus 7 that can sync contacts, calendar and access email will probably be better for you than an iPad that can’t (though a Google calendar/contact sync app would be interesting – though it would have to replace the built-in ones for editing and that’s difficult).
OTOH, if you other uses are more important, then investigating the apps you need should decide for you.
