EDGE is still good for streaming audio, turn-by-turn navigation, email, and simple web browsing. The catch is that you have to choose this plan when you activate your SIM card, and if you cancel it, you can’t get it back. On the other hand, it’s only a $1 to get a new SIM, and you can stockpile them; the activation codes are good for three years.
