The no contract easy on easy off data angle is the main reason I paid 130 dollars extra for my iPad.
Stay in a couple of hotels with ridiculous wifi charges a year and you the data only when you need it pays for itself. 15 bucks a night for weak, slow as molasses hotel wifi (only available in your room)? Or 20 bucks for 1 GB of LTE data you can use anywhere for a full month and to which you can tether a laptop if you need to?
Wifi only devices are great if you never leave your house, work or Starbucks. Spend some time in airports or hotels and you’ll be glad you sprung for the cellular radio.
