I suppose you get access to more complex formatting options which are compatible with Office on a PC/Mac.
But, yes, it does seem expensive if you think about subscribing for a year or two, and what that could buy in alternative apps that don’t require a subscription (or Google Drive which is free and has most of the same functionality, at least enough for most people).
