The colors, animations, and overall style are based on the Metro design language. The start place that shows up when you first launch an app is completely different. It uses flat colors with few to no gradients, and no rounded corners. The look and feel is very different if you do a side by side comparison. That being said, paradigms like the ribbon are still there, which is where you might feel there’s some similarity.
