A recent Microsoft press release from the company’s Czech Republic subsidiary revealed that Office Mobile apps for Android and iOS would be made available from March 2013.
It’s probably news because someone from Microsoft or a Microsoft owned company has officially declared it exists. I mean, if that doesn’t count as news neither do the iPhone or Nexus 4 announcements. We all saw leaks of them beforehand, but that didn’t mean the official bit wasn’t news.
