OK, you’re right about the semantics. No need to be a jerk.
My point is that the Kindle is backwards compatible with the well-known and published Mobipocket spec, which makes it a non-issue for supporting DRM-free eBooks.
It’s the also proprietary, unpublished DRM spec that is problematic for loading Amazon-purchased eBooks on non-Kindles. That’s what flytoastr is objecting to, or should be anyway.
