Eye strain is not a differentiating factor between backlit or non-backlit, so the whole argument is personal preference. I don’t like an LCD so I read on a kindle, he doesn’t like E-ink so he reads on an LCD.

PS. I was really expecting to find backlighting bad for you, but alas it is only a marketing ploy. I totally fell for it.
