What I don’t understand is the configuration chosen.

3720, at 2.6, but not the 3820, but chooses the GTX 680? Why not the Radeon 7970, especially since its performance is estimated to be competitive with the GTX 680, and spec it down to the 2.3 3620, seeing as they have the same 6MB cache, there’s not real point other than the raw aggregate 1.2 Ghz performance better.

Why not spec it down to 3620 and 7970 and get it for under $2000 dollars? And even if Alienware provided the model, it doesn’t take a genius and say, "Hey, you can go get something from them for cheaper and get a similar performance (I built the exact model I suggested, with the 3620 and 7970 with 8GB of RAM, Blu-Ray Player and 32GB Cache SSD for 2024 + tax).

I don’t understand this review at all. The Verge’s ethic statement says it won’t provide reviews for the sake of receiving a loaner unit, but maybe it shouldn’t be doing their reviews if they can’t provide reviews that aren’t biased/uninformed.
