This is ridiculous. They aren’t providing a tax backed public service, and they aren’t a non-profit. They are a for profit company. They make products, presumably with the intention of selling said products. Google Search is not a public service, it’s just another Google product. If I buy a car, the manual will suggest replacement parts from their suppliers, but I can still use other suppliers. This isn’t any different. If a YouTube video is the top result, but a link to Daily Motion or Vimeo is the second result, I can click on that second result if the YouTube video isn’t what I want. We have choice, and we even have competition (Bing). This is still ridicuous.
