I don’t know the split on desktops vs laptops off hand but would also think laptops are the higher number now.
Almost no laptops have touch interfaces. Certainly more will with win8 coming – that was obvious at this weeks trade show.
And all that is fine but it is hardly like there are only 10 people using desktops. Those units will still number in the hundreds of millions.
All I’m saying is – if they are going to force metro onto desktop users then they need to make some adjustments to their thinking so it fits that usage as well as tablets.
There are other areas where it isn’t well fleshed out.
The search on that charms bar for instance…
I can search and then filter by three types…
The first type might return nothing and the second a few hits and the third a few hits.
But I have to manually select the filter option to show those hits – while my screen is sitting mostly blank.
Just put all the hits on the screen divided by filter.
At least give me the option for it.
More stupidity…
If you goto charms/settings/‘change pc settings’ there is an option for ‘users’ there. You can add a user there and change some other things.
But you can’t make some other changes to user accounts there – for that you need to go to the control panel on the desktop. Horrible.
I’m quite curious to see if that means that metro will have multiple account capability in RT version particularly though. No other major tablet OS does this currently and would be a big win for MS.
