The cacophony of terrors in my mind climax as I near the mailbox. What if the comma is supposed to go after the state, before the zipcode, instead of between the city and state?

Technically, the proper format to use now is all capital letters, no punctuation at all (Except the hyphen between the ZIP and ZIP+4 codes).
