Well MBA is cheaper than $1000 …
Am sure they want people to switch to win8 , but not at the disadvantage of their profits. Windows and Office are their main business if they sell it for pennies their entire business structure could collapse. Unlike Apple they don’t sell hardware .
In 2011 Apple sold a total of $3.4 billion worth of apps on their appstore (ipad/iphones). 70 % goes to the developer s. Just do the maths of how much was left in Apple hands and how much Microsoft will stand to gain form the appstore especially when they will be giving up to 80% the appstore revenue of it to developers. App store is only profitable to the developers.. the only benefit Apple /Microsoft/Google gets for it is that it makes their ecosystem more stronger.. and thats just that.
