You could make the same argument for scales in general.

In and of themselves, you don’t need them to improve yourself, but if you’re obsessive about tracking your progress, the wifi scale comes in very handy. Instead of having to transcribe the data into an app or spreadsheet, this can do it automatically. My WW scale’s info, which includes water % and bone mass, goes by way too fast; and having it port online automatically is a good feature.

And it’s not always about getting the most accurate BF%, it’s about staying consistent with the same tool, and looking at progress.. Nobody who’s serious about fat loss cares about where they are on the BMI scale or what the benchmarks are for “obese” etc, it’s about how they’re trending.
