Moves is a simple iPhone fitness app that tracks and maps out your daily activity

Moves iOS app

Moves is a new iPhone app that promises to track your daily fitness activity without any need for a Nike FuelBand, Fitbit, or other physical tracking device. It does this by essentially acting as a pedometer when your iPhone is placed in your pocket. The app logs walking and running activity — and it's also apparently smart enough to recognize when you're cycling. But aside from those data sets, which are already available from dozens of similar App Store offerings, Moves also automatically keeps track of your location and puts together a list indicating where you've been and how much exercise you've managed each day. It does all this while running in the background, so you won't need to open the app every time you're about to head out for a walk or run.

These visual summaries (with or without location information included) can be shared via Facebook, Twitter, email, and can also be saved as images in your camera roll. It's a simple app, but it's also free, and could be an option for those unwilling to wear (and pay for) popular fitness trackers. Moves is available in the App Store now and its developers have said Android and Windows Phone versions are also en route.
