ZTE aims to have thinnest 5-inch 1080p phone with upcoming Grand S

When we first saw the 5-inch 1080p display on HTC’s J-Butterfly, the implication was clear — this would be the new high-spec standard, replacing 2012's ubiquitous 4.7-inch 720p screen. The latest company to throw its hat into the ring is ZTE, whose upcoming Grand S looks to one-up competing devices with a 6.9-millimeter profile and 13-megapixel camera, reports Unwired View. When we reviewed the Droid DNA, its poor battery life was our biggest criticism, so ZTE producing a phone that’s more than a third thinner with acceptable performance would be an impressive technical feat, to say the least. We also don't know whether or not the phone will have an LTE radio, which would affect power consumption accordingly.

Other specs are rumored to include a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro and 2GB of RAM. We’ll know for sure in a couple of more weeks: ZTE is said to be showing off its new 5-inch 1080p phone alongside Sony’s at CES in Las Vegas.
