Today, Nike announced the first game for its exercise tracking devices, NikeFuel Missions. Users can earn NikeFuel points during everyday physical activity, which are then used to advance to the next level. During each timed mission, users will encounter athletes like Calvin Johnson, Allyson Felix, Alex Morgan, and Neymar Jr., who give suggestions on how to best complete the level. NikeFuel Missions are available for the Nike+ smartphone app, FuelBand, SportWatch GPS, SportBand, iPod nano and Nike+ for the Kinect.
In our review of the FuelBand, we found that one of the device's greatest strengths is making exercising both fun and appealing, and this game's addition will likely enhance the device's fun factor. This news, combined with the company's recently launched Nike+ Accelerator program, indicates that Nike may have plans to greatly expand its Fuel offerings. NikeFuel Missions are available now, and require a Nike account and Nike+ device to get started.
