Samsung unveils Galaxy Grand, a mid-range five-inch Jelly Bean device

Samsung today announced the Galaxy Grand — a five-inch Android smartphone apparently designed for mid-range consumers. Powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, the Galaxy Grand runs Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) and comes with a selection of built-in features included on other Galaxy models, including S Voice and Direct Call, which allows users to place calls by raising the handset to their ears.

Measuring 9.6mm thick, the device also features a two-megapixel front-facing camera that supports 720p video calls and an eight-megapixel rear-facing shooter. The Galaxy Grand ships with 8GB of internal memory with a microSD slot that expands to 64GB, though its five-inch, 800 x 480 WVGA display certainly leaves much to be desired.

The company plans to release the phone in two versions: the dual-SIM GT-I9082 and the single-SIM GT-I9080. Samsung has yet to announce a price or release date for either version, but we'll update you as soon as we receive more information.
