'Huffington Post-esque' website to be the setting for Amazon musical comedy series

Ever since Amazon kicked off its push into original programming earlier this year, the company has been adding to its stable of Amazon Studios content. The latest addition is reportedly a musical comedy series that "revolves around four interns working at a Huffington Post-esque website." According to Variety, Amazon is close to greenlighting the series, called Browsers, which was first developed at CBS but didn’t make it past the script stage.

Amazon isn’t the only VOD service spreading its wings into original programming, of course. Netflix, Hulu, Yahoo, and YouTube have all been trying to build out their own offerings in order to compete with television and cable networks. And as shown by shows like Arrested Development and Recipe Rehab, online services are starting to compete with the more established players for the same pool of content.
