Nearly a year after bringing indoor maps to its Android platform, Google is announcing the same service for the web version of Maps. The company has just flipped the switch on floor plans for about 10,000 locations worldwide, including 49 US malls and 22 US airports, as well as many locations in the UK, Europe, and Japan. Unfortunately, it looks like Canada is a little behind — the West Edmonton Mall seems to be the only structure north of the border on Google's current list. That won't be the case for long, though. In order to make sure that 10,000 figure grows as quickly as possible, Google is encouraging ordinary citizens to use its Floor Plan Marker app for Android to add maps to its database.
